Common questions

Removing sheet protection from your own files is completely legal - this is for unlocking files you own or have permission to edit. Files never leave your browser, nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored. Only use this on files you legally have the right to modify.

No. That kind of password uses strong AES-256 encryption - it makes the file completely unreadable without the password. No tool can bypass that without the actual password (and any that claim to are scams or illegal). You need the original password to open such files.

If your file opens normally but you cant edit cells, or some sheets are hidden and you cant unhide them, thats sheet/workbook protection - this tool works perfectly. If Excel asks for a password before even opening the file, thats encryption - this tool cant help.

Yes. The tool only removes the small protection tags from the XML structure. All your data, formulas, formatting, charts, pivot tables - everything is preserved exactly as-is.

.xlsx, .xlsm (with macros), and .xlsb (binary) are all supported. The older .xls format is not - it uses a different file structure. Convert .xls to .xlsx in Excel first if needed.
